According to Associate Professor Dr Truong Ngoc Kiem, Director of the High-Tech Park and Innovation Centre, the institute will develop an innovation ecosystem, focusing on scientific research, technology incubation, application, and knowledge transfer.

It will also support commercialisation efforts and provide consulting services in science and technology.

The institute will prioritise applied research, helping Vietnam to maintain alignment with global technology trends.

In the semiconductor field, it will focus on core technologies such as advanced integrated circuit design, MEMS/NEMS for smart sensors, and micro-electromechanical systems.

Additionally, it will conduct research on AI chips, quantum computing, and energy-efficient processors to drive technological applications in key industries.

Regarding advanced materials, the institute aims to develop nano and 2D materials for applications in electronics, biomedicine, and energy. Its model integrates research, application, and training, creating an environment for scientists to quickly bring innovations to market.

To support this mission, the institute will establish state-of-the-art laboratories and testing centres to accelerate research and commercialisation. It will also play a key role in fostering technology startups in semiconductors and materials at VNU’s Hoa Lac campus.

With strong research and training foundations, the institute is expected to boost Vietnam’s domestic semiconductor industry, reducing reliance on foreign supply and promoting “Made in Vietnam” technological products.
