Bac Giang and Lang Son provinces boost cooperation, linkage

(BGO)- Duong Van Thai, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee (PPC) and head of the provincial delegation of National Assembly deputies of Bac Giang province and his counterpart Nguyen Quoc Doan, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the provincial Party of Lang Son province co-hosted a conference to sign the cooperative programme for mutual development between both provinces in the period from 2023 to 2025 and the upcoming years.

Addressing the meeting, Bac Giang PPC Secretary Duong Van Thai stressed Bac Giang and Lang Son share many similarities which are located on the economic corridor of Nanning (China)- Lang Son - Hanoi- Hai Phong and Quang Ninh, in the Military Zone No1 and considered the northern “defensive fence” of Hanoi capital.

In recent years, both provinces have worked out and implemented a number of cooperative programmes for development in different sectors. They have collaborated well in planning, construction investment, upgrading and improving many important routes. Besides, they have cooperated in issuing certificate of origin (C/O) for exported products and exporters of Bac Giang province. Lang Son province helped Bac Giang organise successful trade promotional activities, promotion and consumption of lychee through the border gate.

In order to continue deepening the cooperative ties, the leaders and participants of both provinces discussed many contents regarding the provincial master plan, investment attraction for industrial development, exploiting potentials of agricultural land and improving people’s living in ethnic minority areas.

Both sides agreed to supplement some contents into the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on implementing cooperative measures and linkage for development in 2023-2025 period and upcoming years. Particularly, both provinces will cooperate in planning of the industrial parks and clusters and establishing concentrated industrial production zones, especially on the axis of National Highway No 1A and Hanoi - Bac Giang - Lang Son Expressway.

Lang Son province will help Bac Giang in informing businesses, cooperatives, production and business establishments in the locality about international multimodal transportation activities in Kep station to perform procedures for preservation, freight, custom services and transportation to China and third countries like Russia, Mongolia, Kazakhstan and Europe.

Both provinces will request the Ministry of Transportation to timely improve and upgrade the National Highway No 31 connecting Bac Giang province to Lang Son, going to Ban Chat border gate in Dinh Lap district, upgrade Hanoi – Dong Dang rail station and effectively exploit Kep international multimodal transport terminal.

The two provinces will collaborate to upgrade some bordering traffic routes and boost linkage in agricultural, forestry and fishery production under value chains. Lang Son province will continue supporting Bac Giang in consumption of farm produce and commodities through the border gate.

At the signing ceremony, PPC Secretaries Duong Van Thai and Nguyen Quoc Doan urged the leaders of the levels and sectors of both provinces to demonstrate their determination and sense of responsibility and proactively advise the provincial Party Committee and People’s Committee for effective implementation of the cooperative programme with specific results. They should alternatively organise yearly review and evaluation on cooperation efficiency.
