Bac Giang, Lang Son strengthen cooperation to attract workers

Updated: 15:50, 13/05/2025

BAC GIANG – On May 12, a delegation from Bac Giang’s Department of Home Affairs, led by Deputy Director Tran Van Ha, held a working session with Lang Son’s Department of Home Affairs to promote labor attraction to enterprises in Bac Giang province. The delegation included representatives from the provincial Employment Service Center and several companies in need of large-scale recruitment.

At the meeting, Lang Son officials welcomed the delegation and emphasized the importance of labor cooperation. Lang Son currently has over 330,000 people of working age, with a vocational training rate of 65% and approximately 18,000 new jobs created annually.

Deputy Director of Bac Giang’s Department of Home Affairs Tran Van Ha speaks at the event.

However, the province has only one operational industrial park (Dong Banh), employing 700 workers and another (VSIP) still in the investment phase. Labor demand in industrial clusters remains low, making Bac Giang’s labor promotion campaign crucial for job creation and income improvement.

Currently, more than 90,000 Lang Son residents work outside the province, including about 40,000 employed in Bac Giang’s industrial parks. Most are general laborers, accounting for 40% of Bac Giang’s out-of-province workforce.

According to Deputy Director Tran Van Ha, Lang Son workers are mainly involved in electronics assembly, garment manufacturing and processing industries—key sectors driving Bac Giang’s economic growth.

“The cooperation between the two provinces in labor matters is the result of close and effective collaboration between functional agencies, particularly the Departments of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs—now the Departments of Home Affairs,” Ha said.

He shared that this conference was part of the 2024 cooperation programme between the provincial governments and an opportunity for Bac Giang companies to commit to proper implementation of wages, social insurance and welfare policies to attract and retain out-of-province workers, including those from Lang Son.

Bac Giang-based enterprises offer recruitment consultations to Lang Son workers for positions in Bac Giang.

Moving forward, both departments agreed to strengthen coordination and regularly exchange information on recruitment needs and employment policies. Employment centers from both provinces will organize online job fairs to connect supply and demand, facilitating Lang Son workers to access stable jobs in Bac Giang.

During the visit, the Bac Giang delegation also attended a job fair hosted by Lang Son, where enterprises with significant recruitment needs distributed flyers, provided job counseling and offered support for those interested in working in Bac Giang.

This mission is part of Bac Giang’s broader plan to attract labor from other provinces, with similar activities planned in other localities and universities.
