Nguyen Van Hieu, Vice Chairman of the Nenh Township People's Committee, said “The township is currently home to more than 42,000 people, of whom about 22,100 are renters. To prevent the pandemic, the township has consolidated steering committees and assisting teams, made the environment clean in all residential areas, workers' rental houses; regularly reviewed and captured information about foreigners and returnees from Hanoi-based Bach Mai Hospital to take preventive measures”.

The township has reorganised the Nenh market fair from a daily to weekly basis, opening on every Friday. This is the largest wholesale market in the district receiving traders from everywhere, with complicated factors, so before each market session, competent forces spray disinfects, assigns people to check visitors’ body temperature and ask people to wear face masks according to regulations.

The township has also maximized the role of self-managed and community supervision teams (whose members are representatives of the Party committees, village heads, and heads of mass organizations) in the popularisation and supervision of the observance of regulations of households in the locality.

Hoang Mai 3 village (Nenh township) has about 4,000 workers who live in rental houses and 1,8 residents, members of self-managed and community supervision teams are divided into several small groups in charge of each residential area.

In Quang Chau commune, the communal People’s Committee has also established self-managed teams to make patrols to promptly detect people who do not wear masks in public places to report to authorities for punishments, as well as provide free masks for them.

Reportedly, the district has established 500 self-managed and community supervision teams. Thanks to their communication efforts, many house owners and workers have increased the awareness of disease prevention.

Strengthening inspection and handling of violations

To create conditions for workers, the district still allows the operation of shops selling food in communes and townships around the industrial parks, such as Hong Thai, Tang Tien, Van Trung, Quang Chau and Nenh township and Bich Dong township. The delivery of food for workers in rental houses must ensure the requirements of food safety and hygiene and epidemic prevention measures.

According to Than Van Quyen, Chairman of the People's Committee of Tang Tien commune, right after receiving the written instructions of the provincial and district People's Committees, the commune has implemented epidemic prevention measures with the motto: Determined, highly attentive, not negligent and not subjective.

Every week, the commune organizes disinfect spraying in crowded places and provides free chloramin B for rental houses to prevent the epidemic. From the raised funds, the commune has distributed more than 15,000 medical masks and 50 liters of disinfectant to people and workers in rental houses.

In addition, the communal Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control has assigned police forces to firmly grasp the demographic changes in households with houses for rent. The police and health forces were asked to increase the inspection of compliance with regulations of shops allowed to operate according to the district's documents.
