During the seven days of competition, nearly 100 domestic and international press reporters from 23 press agencies came here to cover the matches. For quick, accurate and attractive information about the regional sporting event, press agencies made detailed and scientific plans. Bac Giang Newspaper and the provincial Radio and Television Station mobilized a large contingent of reporters and technicians to engage in the event coverage.

Journalist Nguyen Giang Nam, Deputy Director of the Bac Giang Radio and Television Station, said that to spread this special sports event among the public and fans, the SEA Games 31 Organizing Committee and Vietnam Television (VTV) assigned the Bac Giang Radio and Television Station to report live all matches and transmit signals to the SEA Games 31 media center to serve the reception of live television signals by countries.

To fulfil the task, the unit sent nearly 30 officials, editors, reporters and technicians to training courses, prepared mobile TV vehicles, and coordinated with VTV to connect more modern devices.

Determining that this is a regional and international sporting event held for the first time in the province, the editorial board of Bac Giang Newspaper developed detailed dissemination plans before, during and after the event, with coordination between the professional units.

News, articles and photos in Vietnamese and English as well as video clips were continuously updated on the electronic newspaper and published in print publications. The number of domestic and foreign readers accessing the electronic Bac Giang Newspaper increased sharply.

Bac Giang Newspaper also sent English interpreters to support domestic and international reporters during the event. As a result, dozens of news, articles, reportages and interviews with international reporters were published by Bac Giang Newspaper in a timely manner.

Kelly Wang, a photojournalist from the Singapore National Olympic Council, who has covered many sports tournaments in countries in the region, said that 10 photojournalists of the Singapore National Olympic Council came to Vietnam. The delegation had to move continuously between four localities hosting four sports, including badminton in Bac Giang. Without the great support of the Organizing Committee, he and his colleagues would find hard to complete their tasks.

According to Nafielah Mammudah Chusnul, a reporter from e-magazine PBD of Indonesia and many other international journalists, Vietnam is one of the countries heavily affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. However, the organization of SEA Games 31 was very good, especially the arrangement of press rooms fully equipped with computers and high-speed wifi. Press support groups were established to deal with arising situations.

Through the assessment of the local Organizing Committee of the SEA Games 31 badminton event in Bac Giang province, the communication work of the press agencies had a positive effect on the domestic and international public. Not only providing quick, accurate and timely information about the developments and results of the matches, reporters and journalists also actively contributed to the dissemination, promotion and introduction of history and culture, land and people of Bac Giang.

The active participation of press agencies is one of the important factors contributing to the success of SEA Games 31. Also from the coverage of this event, press agencies and journalists have gained valuable experience to promote events of greater international stature in Bac Giang.
