During his state visit to Vietnam, Xi has had a dialogue with Vietnam's General Party Secretary To Lam on Monday. Lam said he believed Xi's visit would become a new landmark in the Vietnam-China relationship, deepening the two countries' comprehensive strategic partnership, and bolstering the development for a Vietnam-China Future Sharing Community with strategic meaning.
Both leaders also agreed to bolster cooperation in multiple fields, including the establishment of a railway cooperation committee between the Vietnamese and Chinese governments.
Lam has requested for Vietnam and China to bolster cooperation in digital transformation and science and technology, turning it into a highlight in the Vietnam-China relationship; promote more balanced trade; focus on deploying projects in Vietnam; and supporting Hanoi and major cities in dealing with air pollution.
Lam has also requested Vietnam and China to maintain strategic exchanges and bolster cooperation in vital fields: foreign affairs, defense and security. He also requested for increased connectivity regarding strategic traffic infrastructures, providing the best deals for loans, technological transference and personnel training, as well as ensuring the progress of the Lao Cai-Hanoi-Hai Phong railway project.
This is Xi's 4th state-level visit to Vietnam as China's General Party Secretary and President, in less than a year after Lam's state visit to China.
