Workers’ average monthly income increases to $320 in Q1
The average monthly income of workers in Vietnam was VND8.3 million (US$321.4) in the first three months of 2025, up 1.6% from the previous quarter and 9.5% year-on-year.
It grew across most regions and economic sectors, according to the National Statistics Office's labor and employment report for the first quarter.

The north central and central coastal regions saw average monthly income rise by 11.7% year-on-year to VND7.3 million. The Red River Delta posted an average worker earnings of VND9.8 million, up 9.5%.
Workers in urban areas earned an average VND10.1 million per month, 1.39 times higher than those in rural locations.
Compared to the same period of 2024, the average monthly income increased across all three economic sectors.
The agro-forestry-fishery sector had the highest growth rate of 9.8%. Workers in the sector now earns VND4.9 million per month.
Incomes in the service and industry-construction sectors went up by 9.2% and 8.2% to VND9.9 million and VND9.1 million per month, respectively.
The statistics office also reported that by the end of the quarter, the employed workforce nationwide amounted to 51.9 million people, down 0.4% from the previous quarter but up 1.04% year-on-year.
Of these, 20 million were employed in urban areas while 31.9 million worked in rural areas.
Nguyen Huy Minh, deputy director of the office’s Population and Labour Statistics Department, noted that labor productivity has improved significantly in recent years as workers shift from the agro-forestry-fishery sector to the industry, construction, and service sectors.
However, the current level remains very low compared to other countries in the region.
