Tan Yen expands road access to Phuc Hoa early-ripening lychee export area
BAC GIANG - To boost lychee consumption and logistics, local authorities in Phuc Hoa Commune, Tan Yen District of Bac Giang province have completed an upgrade of the road linking Provincial Road 294C to the villages of Quat Du 1, Quat Du 2, Phuc Le and Lan Thinh.
The old 3.5 meter wide route has been expanded to a 7-meter-wide concrete surface, stretching over 1.6 kilometer. The project, worth nearly 15 billion VND (650,900 USD) was funded through a combination of district, commune and community sources.

The construction was carried out by a consortium of Thao Minh Construction Company and Ngoc Van Construction Company, with the work expected to fully conclude between 2024 and 2025. Most sections have so far been completed.
The route expansion project received strong community support. More than 60 local households voluntarily donated land, trees and other assets to facilitate site clearance for the construction contractors.
The improved road is expected to enhance transportation and support the distribution of agricultural products from the commune’s fruit cultivation areas.
This year, Phuc Hoa Commune expects a lychee harvest of about 10,000 tonnes from roughly 700 hectares. In addition to supplying the domestic market, the early-ripening lychee from Phuc Hoa meets export standards for markets including China, Japan, the United States, the European Union, Thailand, Cambodia, and Republic of Korea.
The harvest is set to begin on May 25, with peak period starting from May 29 to June 2.
BAC GIANG- Previously, early ripening lychee was mainly sold in domestic market and a small volume was exported to some neighbouring countries. Recently, a number of businesses have promoted its unique taste to gradually bring this product into European market, opening more doors for and enhancing value of early ripening lychee.
BAC GIANG - On the afternoon of March 6, Vice Chairman of Bac Giang Provincial People's Committee Pham Van Thinh worked with Mova Plus Joint Stock Company (Mova Plus) in Europe to exchange and cooperate in exporting U Hong (early ripening) lychee in 2025.
BAC GIANG – The lychee in Bac Giang province is currently in the development stage of flower clusters with high flowering rate of over 90% in early ripening lychee and 85% of main-season lychee, reported the Division of Plant Protection and Production (Department of Agriculture and Rural Development).
BAC GIANG - In 2025, Luc Ngan district of Bac Giang province has more than 10,000 hectares of lychee of all kinds, including over 2,000 hectares of early ripening lychees and remaining of main crop. The area of lychee produced according to VietGAP standards is nearly 7,000 hectares.
BAC GIANG – Lychee orchards in Bac Giang province are entering the flowering stage, with a high predicted flowering rate, signaling a promising harvest. The agricultural sector and local authorities are working hard to guide farmers in caring for their orchards to ensure high yields and meet market demands.
Australian dragon egg lychee, a variety that doubles or triples Vietnam traditional lychee in size, is being sold at VND1.4 million (US$55) per kilogram.
