The outstanding results of Trinh Duy Hieu, a student of Bac Giang High School for Gifted Students, who won the first prize at the national contest for excellent students, gold medal at the Asian Physics Olympiad and silver medal at the International Physics Olympiad in 2018, were thanks to great merit of teacher Nguyen Van Doa (born in 1979) of Bac Giang High School for Gifted Students. In 2018, he received many prestigious awards by Vietnam’s Prime Minister, Minister of Education and Training and Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee for his notable contributions.

Looking back what he has gained, in line with the achievements in nurturing excellent students to win national, regional and international prizes, teacher Doa feels happier with the love and acknowledgments of the school’s leaders, local government, colleagues, students ‘parents and students for him.

As working at a high-quality school with qualified colleagues and intelligent students, he does not allow himself to satisfy with the gained results but he makes endless efforts. He takes time to self-study English every day after work to serve his teaching.

Now he can translate and solve the problem sets of the countries and territories famous for Physics including the US, India and Hong Kong. He often shares useful information about the latest Physic scientific achievements of the world with his students to help them more improved.

During the period before Trinh Duy Hieu competed for the national, Asian and international contests, he had spent most of his time and efforts for months to prepare all conditions and latest information for Hieu from university textbooks to foreign materials. Sometimes, they had to eat fast food together to save time. This special class just included a teacher and a student and rarely finished before 11 pm.

“With my strict working method and dedication at work, I want to spread the love for Physics to my students and tell them not to rest on their laurels but they have to overcome themselves”, said Nguyen Van Doa.

His passion for studying has inspired many generations of students. Since he started nurturing students’ team for the national excellent student contest in 2012, teacher Doa has gained notable achievements. Particularly, his students have won 45 national prizes and almost all members in his Physics team win prize at every contest.

Teacher Dong Duc Thien builds the website to share knowledge for free

When we met Dong Duc Thien (born in 1984), a teacher of Tan Yen senior high school No 1, the founder of the website for Chemistry practice and a number of websites providing free learning consultancy, we could see his passion and enthusiasm for the teaching career. Thus, he has studied and shared many effective initiatives and experiences for teaching and learning during 12 years of working (since 2006) despite his young age.

As talking about his colleague, teacher Pham Hung Cuong, deputy rector of Tan Yen senior high school No 1 said, “Teacher Thien has gained many achievements. Each lesson of teacher Thien has unique style presented by creative and flexible methods, which make the Chemistry knowledge become interesting and easy to understand.

With his passion for the job, he often seeks new effective teaching methods to apply in reality. It is not easy to create useful lessons and reference materials that took him a week, a month even a year for them. However, whenever he succeeds, he shares them for free. He feels happy when his shares are appreciated.

He is the author of the set of books “practicing chemistry experiments” for grade 10, 11 and 12, which were printed and published nationwide by the Educational Publishing House in 2012 with 16,000 copies. Currently, they are used by many teachers and students.

Besides, the websites hoaphothong.org and hoaphothong.net providing general knowledge and theories of Chemistry, guidance to solve chemistry problems, experiences in learning and preparing for examination and clips of lessons are luring a large number of views with more than 1.7 million participants to exchange studying experiences.

Thien is among the leading teachers in the movement of creativity and initiatives. Since 2011 when he moved to teach at Tan Yen senior high school No 1, this young teacher provides from 1 to 2 initiatives each year while exploiting information technology to apply in teaching.

Thien is also one of the teachers winning prizes at the provincial excellent teacher contest for consecutive years in the periods of 2011-2015 and 2016-2019. During his working period, he was found to have tireless dedication. Taking a role as Deputy Secretary of the teachers’ youth union, he is exemplary to build a united group and willing to help his colleagues for mutual advancement.
