It was around 9 am on January 24 when Son went to work. When reaching My Do bridge, Son saw a girl sitting on the edge of the bridge and suspected that this person would commit suicide. As soon as he stopped the vehicle, she jumped off the bridge to the deep river.

Immediately, the teacher run down to the river bank where a young man took him to the dike by his motorbike. Detecting the girl’s hands reaching out, teacher Son rushed to the swift current to save her life. When taking the girl to the bank, Son’s body seemed to be frozen by the extreme cold. However, he still stayed for a while to contact her family so that they could come to pick her up.

“At that circumstance, I think anyone who can swim with life-saving skill has the same action. Only me could not do everything without the support from many kind-hearted people ”, Son revealed.

Nguyen Van Ninh, Headmaster of Giap Hai High School introduced that teacher Son - a young member of the Party who has worked at the school since 2014. Owning a simple and modest way of life, Son is a man of little words but due attention to the colleagues and students. Currently, he is the head of Physical and national defense educational group at the school.

After saving the life of the poor girl, teacher Son still went to school to work as usual. Regarding the recent issue, he expected everyone to care for and support others with true emotions toward a better life. Particularly, the youth should actively study and practice the living skill in order to conquer the challenges and save the disadvantaged cases.

As to know, teacher Than Van Son was born in Kep town (Lang Giang district) and graduated from Hanoi University of Physical Education and Sports.
