The peace comes again

Three months ago when Nui Hieu village was a hustle and bustle center like the city, the disease suddenly came, forcing every house to close. The quiet covered everywhere. Only officials in the village, commune and competent agencies on duty travelled around to transport the neccessities.

From a village only named in geography book, Nui Hieu became famous nationwide after detecting over 2,000 SARS-CoV-2 infected cases, mostly workers at the industrial parks boarding here.

For months, thousands of villagers and workers had lined up in silent to wait for their samples taken for Covid-19 test at the yards of the cultural houses in the village.

The local atmosphere was fully strained and boiled with the voice of loudspeakers to expedite, appeal, remind the people; the noise of motor, the sound of ambulance siren to deliver infected patients to the hospital and people with close contact to the patients to the centralized quarantine sites days and nights as well as fleet of buses to evacuate workers to decrease the population density to prevent the cross infections.

Nui Hieu started special medical isolation on May 15 with fast implementation of zoning off programme under joint collaboration among public security, military and medical forces. Several checkpoints were set up on the routes in and out the area.

On July 6, the medical isolation was removed from Nui Hieu village. The locals started cleaning up campaign in every house and surrounding areas. All stores arranged their facilities, bought more commodities for reopening. Each group of workers gradually returned to the boarding village to re arrange the accommodation to come back work.

According to Vice Head of the village Nguyen Van Dung, though the life enters new normal state in Nui Hieu now, it still operates a permanent working group to review, grasp the situation to handle any arising circumstance relating to the disease and strictly control over the entrance of the workers to the area.

When workers come to hire a boarding place, the village official orders them to make health declaration, show valid negative test result (72 hours for PCR test and few days for rapid test).

All boarding areas pasted notice to recommend people to seriously implement 5K message while the local loudspeakers live 3 times per day to remind and propagandize people about disease prevention.

Nui Hieu housed 210 households with over 800 people. Previously, most of the locals relied on farming and breeding; fews of them worked far away and abroad. When the factories were built, Nui Hieu became residential area close to the wall of Quang Chau industrial park.

Dung said, differing from others, people in Nui Hieu invested money to build high building hostels with closed room. The service suppliers mushroomed everywhere, 70 of whom are not native people to hire place for doing business only. The village has only 5 poor households with special conditions of sickness, single person without working ability.

At the end of May 2021, Nui Hieu was like a “disease time bomb” because nearly 10,000 workers shared more than 5,000 rooms amid the residential area. Bac Giang province detected nearly 5,800 Covid-19 patients, more than 2,000 of whom were in Nui Hieu village.

The normal life returns to people in Nui Hieu village.

This village rapidly returned to new normal state thanks to high determination and consensus of the local authority, party and people at all strata; serious obedience to disease preventive measures, order; mutual sharing, solidarity and support among hostel owners, workers and villagers amid the difficult time.

With the deep awareness about disease dangerousness, Nui Hieu village has paid due attention to protecting the area thoroughly. The hard time made villagers and boarders more attached. Meeting after long period of time, they asked after the health condition and reminded each others to well implement disease preventive rules to maintain stable and peaceful life.
