Quang Nam reopens entertainment services with Covid-19 under control

Updated: 17:16, 06/09/2020
Entertainment outlets, bars, karaoke parlors and dance clubs in Quang Nam Province will resume operation from 6 a.m. Sunday after over a month of suspension.

The decision came as the central province has recorded no new domestic infections for 18 consecutive days.

Public transport across the province are also allowed to return to normal while tourism sites will be reopened to welcome visitors.

Festivals, religious events and other cultural gatherings are permitted but residents are encouraged to wear face masks and keep a safe distance in public and avoid large crowds except for schools, offices and hospitals.

Quang Nam, home to ancient town Hoi An, was a major Covid-19 hotspot, recording the second highest number of domestic Covid-19 cases at 96 after Da Nang as a second Covid-19 outbreak returned to the community late July.

The province closed all non-essential services and deployed social distancing measures late July. It ended social distancing on August 28 as the pandemic was brought under control.

Vietnam’s Covid-19 tally now stands at 1,049 with 206 active cases. The country has reported 35 deaths so far.
