Phuong Linh told that she is usually reminded about energy saving to protect environment and resources by her parents and teachers. The practical needs motivate this little girl to invent a useful energy-saving product. Phuong Linh started to research and create the product “multi-functional bike” with great support from the internet.

According to Phuong Linh, there are a lot of energy-saving treadmills. However, these products are at high price at 10 million VND (430 USD) or more. In March 2018, she invented the “multi-functional bike” based on the knowledge she searched on the internet and from her studies.

After more than 2 months studying the facilities with the help of Bui Thi Ha, her teacher of art, Linh successfully assembled the product. Initially, this machine had a simple design like a normal bicycle with a frame, wheel, frame base, battery, generator attached to a pulley and belt.

After piloting, errors often occurred. “I surmounted the errors by tightening proper chain tension to optimize the tire rotations accelerating power charging. Besides, I designed one more metal frame to put a blender and fan. These new components are connected to the generator with a pulley”, said Phuong Linh.

This machine operates under the principle that when the user rides the bike, the belt will move around from the wheel to the pulley to generate power while the blender is also moving. 

One circle of the wheel will create more than 10 circles of the pulley at the speed of 1,000 cycles per minute. On average, the 12-voltage battery will be fully charged within 3 hours of operating the bicycle, 30 minutes faster than the last one.

Compared to the other energy-saving treadmills on the market, this “multi-functional bike” is much cheaper but effectively saves the power. Currently, Linh and her friends use this product to pumping water for flowers and bonsais at their school.
