Vietnamese wins women's blitz title at Indian chess tournament

Luong Phuong Hanh has won the women's blitz event at the EKA IIFL Mumbai International Chess Tournament in India.
The Hanoi player scored 6.5 points from 11 rounds with six wins, a draw and four losses in a mixed field also involving men players.

She finished half a point ahead of Yashita Rout of India and took home prize money of nearly $1,400.
The 38-year-old, besides being an active player in the international circuit, also teaches chess to children in Hanoi.
The EKA IIFL event was held from December 30 to January 7, and had total prize money of nearly $70,000.
Nearly 100 chess players from cities, provinces and units joined a national championship that opened in Ha Long city, the northwestern province of Quang Ninh, on November 17.
Grandmaster Le Quang Liem finished fourth in the lightning and rapid chess competition in the 2019 Grand Chess Tour, a career high.
Vietnamese super grandmaster Le Quang Liem performed brilliantly on the first day of blitz chess (November 9) at the ongoing 2019 Superbet Rapid & Blitz in Romania with five wins and four draws.
