Bac Giang exports nearly 4,000 tonnes of early ripening lychees

(BGO) – The harvest season for early ripening lychee in Bac Giang province started in late May. So far, over 13,400 tonnes of fruits have been consumed domestically and globally.

According to the Department of Industry and Trade, as of June 5, the province harvested over 13,400 tonnes of early ripening lychee, 4,000 tonnes of which were exported to several markets of China (nearly 3,900 tonnes or 29 percent of total harvested quantity), Cambodia, Japan and EU…

A purchasing point of early ripening lychee for export in Lan Thinh village, Phuc Hoa commune (Tan Yen district).

Everyday, more than 50 trucks carrying Bac Giang lychee are cleared the customs procedure at Tan Thanh border gate in Lang Son province to enter China. The competent agencies here prioritize these trucks to implement customs clearing formalities.

The early ripening lychee crop covers more than 6,700 ha with estimated productivity of 55,000 tonnes and harvest time from late May till June 15.

The main season lychees are grown in over 21,500 ha which are now at flesh gaining stage. It yields about 135,000 tonnes and can be harvested from June 15 till July 25.

Currently, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development continues directing and guiding farmers at growing area codes to apply caring technique for main season lychee to ensure productivity and quality.
