Bac Giang province defines the US as a potential market with big purchasing power for commodity farm produce; however, this is an arduous market which requires high product quality with strict regulations on inspection and food safety.

Facing this circumstance, the provincial leader requested Prof. Nguyen Dinh Phu to introduce Vietnamese business persons in the US and American enterprises operating in the field of importing farm produce for trade connection, thereby boosting cooperation in purchasing and exporting fresh lychee, lychee products and typical products of the province.

The provincial Vice Chairman expected Nguyen Dinh Phu to provide information about the market, import and export policies, requirements, criteria, procedures, safety certification, packaging, traceability and technical barriers of the US against fresh lychee and lychee products.

Besides, he was expected to collaborate and support the province to boost trade activities, introduce and promote the potentials, advantages and investment attraction policies of the province to link up to prestigious corporations and investors.

After being introduced about the province, Nguyen Dinh Phu expressed his impression on the development, advantages and potentials of Bac Giang province, especially its strength in farm produce.

He recommended Bac Giang province to build detailed plan on consumption of farm produce while providing information of the signature products with certificate of safe production to advertise on mass media and social networks to broadcast to a large number of consumers in the US about lychee and some key products of Bac Giang province. At first, the province will export fresh lychee and then processed lychee products for gradually.

In addition, the province needs to support some typical enterprises in procedures for exporting its key farm produce to the US.

Previously, the working delegation inspected the lychee growing areas for export to the US and Japan, packaging and sterilization facilities and lychee processing system for export in Luc Ngan district.
