Completing procedures to export the first batch of fresh lychee to Japan

The Plant Protection Department under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development held an online meeting on May 14 with related Japanese partners to discuss measures towards completing the procedures for the export of Vietnam’s fresh lychees to Japan.

In preparation for the export of the first batch of fresh lychees to Japan, the Plant Protection Department has worked with the northern provinces of Bac Giang and Hai Duong to build a standard planting area.

Japan has authorised the Vietnamese side to inspect the disinfection treatment system of fresh lychee exported from Vietnam under the supervision of the Japanese Embassy in Vietnam.

This year, Bac Giang Province has over 28,000 ha of lychees with an estimated output of over 160,000 tonnes, an increase of 10,000 tonnes year-on-year.

To prepare for the first batch of fresh lychee to be exported to Japan, Bac Giang authorities have coordinated with the Plant Protection Department to select and propose 19 growing area codes for the Japanese side’s approval, with a total area of 103 ha and an estimated output of 600 tonnes in the districts of Yen The and Luc Ngan.

Meanwhile, Hai Duong Province has 9,700 ha with an estimated output of 45,000 tonnes. The province has developed 23 lychee and longan growing areas that meet the standards of Japanese, US, Australian and EU markets for plant quarantine and food safety.

Testing lychee steam and sterilization line for export
(BGO) – The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD) on May 10 coordinated with the Department of Science and Technology, some agencies of the Ministry of  Agriculture and Rural Development to test the operation of the steam and sterilization line installed at Toan Cau Food Import – Export Joint Stock Company in Phuong Son commune, Luc Ngan district (Bac Giang province).
MoIT proposes remote inspection, recognition for export of lychee to Japan
(BGO)- The provincial Department of Industry and Trade has received a correspondence from the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) on addressing obstacles and boosting export of fresh lychee to Japan in 2020.
Contract inked to consume Phuc Hoa early ripen lychee
(BGO) – According to Ngo Van Cuong, head of GlovalGAP lychee production group in Quat Du 2 village, Phuc Hoa commune, Tan Yen district (Bac Giang province), Ameii Vietnam Joint Stock Company on May 6 inked the contract to consume 30 tonnes of local early ripen lychee with the price of nearly 30,000 VND (1.28 USD) per kg.  
Contract inked to export over 100 tonnes of Bac Giang lychee to Japan
(BGO) – Chanh Thu Fruit Import Export Company Limited (Ben Tre province) has inked the contract to buy over 100 tonnes of lychee grown in more than 10 hectares in the communes of Tan Son and Nam Duong (Luc Ngan district) and Phuc Hoa (Tan Yen district) to export to Japanese market.
Bac Giang implements various measures to boost lychee consumption in 2020
(BGO) – The Chairman of Bac Giang provincial People’s Committee (PPC) has issued the Correspondence to urge the relevant departments and agencies to implement various measures to boost the lychee consumption in 2020 season.
