The dryer consists of drying tank with capacity of 18 cubic meters, heat pump and operation cabinet.

The dryer is capable of drying 5 to 7 tonnes of fresh lychee per batch per 50 hours. It costs about 6 million VND of electric charge per batch for one operator.

Previously, Luan’s family used coal oven to dry lychee. However, coal burning caused environmental pollution and lower product quality than electric drying method. The operating cost by electric drying is lower than the old method. So Luan studied lychee and longan drying facilities in Nam Dinh province to install the heat pump dryer.

According to Luc Ngan district Division of Agriculture and Rural Development, Luan’s family is the first family in the district who self invested to install modern lychee dryer. The products meet export standard to demanding markets, helping open up new trend for lychee processing in the area.
