International medals motivate high achievement sports

(BGO)- Thanks to sound investment and further integration, Bac Giang’s athletes have reaped many medals in international playgrounds in recent years contributing to glorifying the province’s sport sector. 

In 2018, the track and field athlete Nguyen Thi Oanh made a breakthrough on the women’s 3,000- metre steeplechase at the 18th Asian Games (ASIAD 18). At this event, Oanh won a bronze medal after finishing the line breaking the regional record with the achievement of 9 minutes 43 seconds.

Leaders of the provincial People’s Committee and Department of Culture, Sport and Tourism encourage Nguyen Thi Oanh after she won bronze medal at ASIAD 18.

One year before, she bagged 2 gold medals at women’s 5,000-metre and 1,500-metre running at SEA Games 29 helping Vietnam’s track and field occupy the South East Asia. Oanh won medals at every regional or open tournaments of some Asian countries.

Grand master Nguyen Thi Mai Hung was crown champion at standard chess event at SEA Games 26 in 2011 when she was nearly 20. Specially, she won gold medal at Asian Individual Blitz Championship 2016 when she was in the best shape of her life.

Mai Hung’s teammate Vo Thi Kim Phung was also crown champion at the Asian championship in 2017 in standard chess category.

Both of these girls are outstanding for their intelligence and achievements who have played chess since they were young and gained medals in many domestic and international competitions.

Nguyen Anh Tuan, Dinh Van Duc, Nguyen Thi Dao and Hoang Thi Tra My are outstanding faces in shuttlecock kicking who won nearly 10 gold medals at the World Shuttlecock Kicking Championships and tens of medals at SEA Games and Asian Beach Games over the past 10 years. Especially, Nguyen Thi Dao made great contribution to the gold medal of Vietnamese women team at the World Shuttlecock Kicking Championships in France in August 2019.

According to statistics, Bac Giang’s athletes have won total 30 gold medals, 14 silver medals and 8 bronze medals since 2017 at the international competitions. Chess, shuttlecock kicking, track and field and wushu are big contributors to these outstanding achievements.

Ngo Hoang Long, Director of the provincial Sport Training and Competition Center which is specialised at training professional athletes stressed the two contents of following right directions and focuses.

Particularly, the athlete training system is divided into different levels starting from amateur classes, then upgrading into talented teams, nurturing for the youth teams and finally the recruitment process. The Center regularly conducts tests and capacity assessment during training process.

The key sports and athletes anticipated to gain good achievements will be given high priority. The well-known faces such as Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy (wusu), Nguyen Thi Oanh and Pham Tien San (track and field), Vu Thi Trang, Nguyen Thi Sen and Tran Thi Phuong Thuy (badminton) were found, nurtured and developed thanks to this professional training system.

Female wushu fighter Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy won silver at the Asian youth championship, a big hope for Vietnam’s wushu at upcoming Sea Games 30.

Besides, the Center directs its divisions to proactively make plans for field training and competitions with other athletes from Vietnam’s top sport centers such as Hanoi, Military, Thai Nguyen and the National Sports Training Center.

Before the youth teams and national teams summon for the competitions, each sport division selects the best athletes based on their achievements to introduce.

While an international medal used to be a dream of Bac Giang’s professional sport 20 years ago, now we have outstanding generations of athletes who have been nurtured and had opportunities to develop their talents and skills thanks to scientific and proper training methods winning many international medals.

The province’s sport will continue the glorious achievements in domestic and international championships based on this strong foundation.

Bac Giang has many promising young athletes
(BGO)- Recently, Bac Giang’s sport has a number of young promising athletes. Their outstanding performances in the national competitions have contributed to gaining high achievements for the province. 
17 athletes in Bac Giang province summoned to national teams
(BGO) – To date, 17 athletes in Bac Giang province have been summoned to different teams and national youth sports teams, 7 athletes to badminton, 2 to chess, track and field and wushu respectively, 1 to  wrestling, judo, boxing and shuttlecock kicking teams.

(BGO) – The 30th Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 30) will officially start at the end of November 2014 in the Philippines. Since nearly four months prior to the regional sports festival, the Bac Giang born athlete Nguyen Thi Oanh has spent utmost effort on  securing the gold medals that she gained two years ago.

(BGO) – The National Youth Badminton Tournament 2019 was organized in Dak Lak province from June 9-16, luring nearly 140 youth players from 21 provinces, cities and sectors across the nation.

(BGO) – The National Wushu Championship 2019 took place from April 1-7 in Vung Tau city (Ba Ria Vung Tau province) drawing more than 300 artists from 31 provinces, cities and sectors nationwide.
