Viet Nam focuses on innovation: Technology enterprises contribute to national policy making

Updated: 11:10, 18/06/2025

The establishment of the National Advisory Council on Science and Technology Development, Innovation, and Digital Transformation is an important step, reflecting the high determination of the Party and the State to mobilize collective intelligence and harness collective strength to create breakthroughs in these key areas.

In the context of the country accelerating its digital economy development, digital society, and urgently realizing strategic goals, the Central Steering Committee for Science and Technology Development, Innovation, and Digital Transformation has recently issued a decision to establish the National Advisory Council on Science and Technology Development, Innovation, and Digital Transformation.

The establishment of the National Advisory Council on Science and Technology Development, Innovation, and Digital Transformation is a significant step that shows the Party and the State’s great attention to this sector.

The council is chaired by Le Hoai Trung, a member of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Party Central Committee Office; with Pham Gia Tuc, a member of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Party Central Committee Office, serving as the Standing Deputy Chairman; and Ngo Hai Phan, Director of Digital Transformation and Cipher, Party Central Committee Office, serving as a permanent member.

Notably, the council's composition includes a diverse and high-quality team of experts, scientists, and business leaders.

In addition to leading experts in scientific fields, the council includes prestigious experts on innovation, digital transformation in public governance, economy, education, healthcare, finance, industry, agriculture, environment, and transportation; experts in policy mechanisms; and prominent Vietnamese people abroad.

The presence of many business leaders running top technology corporations such as FPT, Viettel, MoMo, and VNG is a particular highlight.

The involvement of leading technology corporations, especially "tech unicorns" internationally recognized such as MoMo and VNG, not only affirms the Party and State’s trust in the transformative and leadership role of the private sector in the process of renewing growth models, developing the digital economy, and digital society, but also reflects openness and receptiveness in adopting initiatives from the production-business practice.

These enterprises, with their active contributions in fields such as providing technological solutions, artificial intelligence, and financial technology (fintech), are playing a crucial role in popularizing technology services in all strata of society.

Moreover, bringing the voices of businesses into the policy-building process helps bridge the gap between policymakers and practice, creating favorable conditions for new economic models to develop in the right direction and align with global trends.

In an era when nations are focusing on developing digital economies, tech unicorns can play a pivotal role in the national innovation ecosystem.

Inviting exemplary entrepreneurs and leading experts to participate in the council reflects a strategic and innovative approach to policy formulation.

This is not only an acknowledgment of the private sector and professional efforts but also a strong affirmation of the partnership between the State and enterprises, between theory and practice, in building a knowledge-based economy, sustainable development, and enhancing national competitiveness.

With the goal of developing science, technology, and innovation aligned with the country’s needs and global trends, the involvement of tech unicorns and high-quality experts in high-level advisory councils will be a key catalyst for Viet Nam to gradually realize its goal of becoming a developed, high-income nation by 2045.
