Runner breaks long-time record at National Athletics Championship
Oanh finished the run in 34 minutes and 8.54 seconds, beating the old national record set by Doan Nu Truc Van on December 12, 2003 of 34 min and 48.28 sec.
In her favorite category, she faced little difficulty in taking the lead. During the last few laps, an encouraged Oanh broke the national record in 40 sec less than the one prior.

Also on Friday, she had won her first gold in the 3000 m obstacle course. In total, Oanh scooped four National Athletics Tournament gold medals.
Oanh was named "Athlete of the Year" in 2019, after she clinched three golds at SEA Games 30 in the 1,500 m, 3,000 m obstacle course, and 5,000 m, along with breaking a record in the event.
Also on Friday, Le Tu Chinh and three HCMC teammates won the 4x200m relay gold medal. Quach Cong Lich and Le Trong Hinh contributed to the victory in the men's 4x200m category for Thanh Hoa. However, Lich and his teammates failed in the 4x400m category. Nguyen Thi Huyen, gold medalist at three consecutive SEA Games, could not help Nam Dinh win the 4x400m relay. She and her three teammates finished second, after Hanoi.
Some other notable gold medals on the fourth day of the event belonged to Phan Thi Diem (Hau Giang, high jump), Lam Tung Duong (Hanoi, triple jump), Nguyen Thi Huong (Hanoi, triple jump), Nguyen Ngoc Quang (Hanoi, 110 m hurdles), Huynh My Tien (Vinh Long, 100 m hurdles), Le Tien Long (Ha Tinh, 3000 m obstacle course), Vu Duc Anh (Hai Phong, high jump) and Le Thi Lai (Soc Trang, discus).
The National Athletics Championship 2020 takes place from November 5 to 15 at My Dinh National Sports Complex in Hanoi, with the participation of over 500 athletes from 50 localties in the country.
