Bac Giang promotes tourism in tandem with new-style rural development

Updated: 09:02, 12/06/2025

BAC GIANG – Implemting the rural tourism development programme within the framework of the new-style rural development initiative which focuses on the preservation and promotion of traditional cultural values in a sustainable, inclusive, and multi-value direction, various localities across Bac Giang province have been tapping into and promoting their potential and strengths.

As a result, agricultural and rural tourism have been flourishing, contributing to creating modern, civilised rural spaces and improving residents' incomes.

With a large area of fruit cultivation (approximately 28,000 hectares), diverse crop and livestock varieties, and rich natural landscapes, Bac Giang is considered to hold significant potential for agricultural and rural tourism development.

In recent years, rural tourism has been a key focus and is now identified as one of the province's primary tourism models.

The province is focusing on developing four key tourism products: cultural-spiritual tourism; ecological and resort tourism; recreational and sports-related tourism; and community-based tourism associated with fruit-growing areas and agricultural-rural experiences in Luc Nam, Luc Ngan, Son Dong and Yen The districts and Chu township.

According to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the province currently has 38 community and rural tourism sites, involving about 250 local households.

Some notable and effective community and rural tourism destinations include Ban village, Xoan village, and Thuong Dong village in Xuan Luong commune (Yen The district); Na O village in An Lac commune (Son Dong district); Bac Hoa village in Tan Son commune (Luc Ngan district); and Dong Giao village in Quy Son commune (Chu township). On average, each site welcomes about 70,000 visitors annually.

Over the past time, relevant agencies and localities have proactively supplemented tourism-trade-service land use planning for areas with tourism development potential. Cooperatives have been guided to develop tourism products aligned with their unique strengths.

At the same time, focus has been paid to transport infrastructure development, mobilising resources from national target programmes and allocating budgets to support communes in upgrading and expanding rural roads. Additional resources have also been raised to invest in, construct, and restore historical and cultural sites.

Efforts have been regularly made to support communication, networking, and the formal establishment and recognition of tourism destinations.

Attention has also been given to improving quality and developing OCOP (One Commune One Product) items to introduce, promote, and supply to tourists, creating highlights for tourism growth. Various tourism and cultural events in connection with rural tourism have been organised.

Each year, provincial and district-level tourism agencies organise training courses and survey programmes, helping improve both general social knowledge and specific community tourism expertise.

The tourism environment is increasingly valued by local residents, with heightened awareness in preserving village landscapes. Positive changes include flower planting, greening and cleaning up gardens, and cultivating fruit trees to enhance the visitor experience. Additionally, locals are engaging more in eco-friendly, clean, and organic agricultural practices.

Tourism development plays a crucial role in the new-style rural development programme, helping raise incomes, create jobs, and preserve traditional culture.

Bac Giang sees this as a vital, long-term, and sustainable direction, contributing to economic restructuring and socio-economic development.
