Defining agricultural development as a fundamental pillar of its economy, the northern province of Bac Giang has worked out a number of policies and mechanism for agricultural development in various fields including plantation, livestock, forestry and aquaculture to increase people’s income and living standard.

Besides, the province has boosted building concentrated agricultural production areas applying high technology, clean and organic agricultural production.

On this occasion, MARD was requested to choose Bac Giang one of the localities to implement high-tech, organic and circular agriculture towards green agriculture and digital transition in the MARD’s programmes and projects to exploit the space for plantation development.

Speaking at the meeting, PPC Vice Chairman Le O Pich informed that agriculture efficiently supports industrial development and social security although it takes a small proportion in the province’s economic structure.

There are large rooms for agricultural development; however, Bac Giang does not pursue quantity but it concentrates on regional planning for focused development and pays special attention to quality and trademark establishment.

Le O Pich expected MARD to introduce potential investors to the province in agricultural sector while the province is committed to facilitating operation of businesses in accordance with laws.

Concluding the working session, Hoang Trung highly evaluated the achievements in agricultural production gained by the province so far. Besides, he urged the province to continue building production procedures aimed to reduce input costs and increase profits for farmers.

He advised to improve efficiency of plant variety management and promote application of high technology and circular agriculture. It was also urged to strictly manage the certified planting area codes.

He agreed with some recommendations of Bac Giang province and provided some solutions for the obstacles in coming time.

Bac Giang consumes more than 14,000 tonnes of early ripening lychees

BAC GIANG - Currently, localities in Bac Giang province have focused on harvesting early maturing lychees. As of May 30, the whole province harvested more than 14,000 tonnes of fresh lychees, including over 6,600 tonnes from Tan Yen district, 5,500 tonnes from Luc Ngan district and 850 tonnes from Luc Nam district among others.
